Havana

Havana or in Spanish, La Habana, is the capital of Cuba and also, a biggest and most populated city in Cuba. The city also forms one of the 14 provinces of Cuba. Havana belongs to the province called "City of Havana". City's population is about 2.2 million people. Old part of the Havana city is protected by UNESCO. There are different architectural styles in the city, from houses of the 17th Century Baroque style in the Old Havana district to historic buildings in other part of Havana. Havana is also the most important destination for visitors in Cuba. This is the place where Cuban government is located.

a story about Cuba
History

Havana was first visited by Europeans in 1510. The first Spaniards arrived in that year and Havana expanded greatly soon after their arrival. New buildings were built on the island. In 17th century, a big epidemic was brought from Colombia and affected one third of the population of Havana. By the 18th century Havana's population was more than seventy thousand inhabitants, and at that time was the third largest city in the Americas, ranking ahead of New York City.

Culture
Havana contains many cultural places. The most interesting and most beautiful ones to visit include palaces and public squares as well as churches and fortresses (see on my photo section of Havan city, the largest fortified complex in the Americas built in the 16th century). There are numbers of cigar factories worth visiting. As I mentioned it previously, the old Havana is protected by UNESCO.
